High Heels Can Be More Than “Stylish”

So not only are they stylish to wear, but they can also be a life-saver at times?

From Scotmans.com:

Two young women getting ready for a night out used their stilettos to break down the door of a burning house and rescue an elderly woman, it emerged today.

Hannah Oxby, 20, and Emma Richardson, 19, heard shouting in the street outside their home in Lincoln and ran out to find smoke coming from a neighbour’s house.

The pair then climbed over a garden fence and kicked down the wooden front door with their high heels, before running upstairs and leading the pensioner to safety.

I’d still like to know what kind of high heels these were exactly. Sounds like they were quite the… kickers.

My Black Beauties

Well, alright, I must unfortunately add “not yet”… I’m still to gather the money necessary for these little babies. As soon as I can afford them, though, I’ll make a point to order these for my sheer pleasure. High heels? Thigh high? Laces? Buckles? Even if I won’t be able to wear them everyday and they’ll blow my budget, it’s not what matters, anyway. It’s for the style. I like this style. It’s been so long I’ve been looking for something similar that would catch my fancy, yet that I couldn’t find where I live.

I literally fell in love with these boots when I saw a picture of them in a journal on the web, a few weeks ago. I had no idea which store was selling them, nor if I could even find a way to order them (I’m getting used to finding nice stores, only to realize that they don’t deliver to Europe). I sighed and thought these would remain a dream, like so many things I can see when randomly browsing and not remembering where I saw them. Then, an article on this very blog led me to BananaShoes’ website, and I so accidentally stumbled upon them that it’s almost laughable.

Who said a blog about high heels couldn’t be useful!

Are Sand-booties Made for Walking - too?

Have you seen the new hybrid heels? They are a cross between provocative stiletto boots and sandals. The open-space on the toes and heels represent the ‘sand’ part. The ‘bootie’ covers the ankle to the lower calf region. Sand-booties are free of feminine frailty.

The vamp aspect of the heels goes well beyond the recently released second version of “These Boots Are Made for Walking.” Jessica Simpson croons her new rendition of Nancy Sinatra’s 1966 release to the legendary, Willie Nelson’s guitar strokes. The similar lyrics symbolize how high heel boots may change in height or shape, but how timeliness they will remain in rebellious fashion.

For those nights on the town where you want to break the bounds of basic couture, here are some boots to bear your heels into:

Beware; these are not the type of heels made for the insecure. Hybrid heels are made for walking, breaking new bounds and defining new trends in sand-booties.

Spring Fling!

This pink and pretty, perfect for spring, stiletto has a three-inch heel. It’s by Spicy and available in a wide variety of patent leather colors for $49.99 at the Chinese Laundry.

Then I decided to try my luck in the bargain basement and found this rainbow of strappiness for only $39.99. Very springy, indeed, but I’m not sure about pairing those multi-hues with the red base. What do you think?
