Finding High Heel Treasure
I hadn’t posted to this blog for a long time. I thought, “What’s the best way to find some material on high heels?” Google! But this time, instead of the usual basic searching of the web, I hit the “Search Froogle” button (in my not-updated toolbar). Surprisingly, it still worked, although Google calls this “Products” now. At first the results puzzled me. I changed the keywords to “high heel shoes” for better returns. Then I changed the sort from “relevance” to “price: low to high”. Then the results got humorous as the search engine pulls in items from eBay!
You can buy an “Unfinish Wood Shape Cut Out” — always useful! Little charms and pins are cute. How about purple rubber erasers in the shape of shoes? Puzzling is the “High Heel Shoes Print Fat 1/8th” bolt of material. Then there are the songs — and we’re still under a dollar: “One Red High Heel Shoe” by Jim Lahman; “High Heeled Shoes” by Philip J. Kearns, openly gay singer-songwriter, also by Nevile, the Fintons; just plain “High Heel Shoes” by Jay and by Suzanne & Kelly, and “High Heel Gym Shoes” by Jeff Fidler. Oy! Enough! A few real shoes make an appearance, still under $1.00. At a dollar, images and photos begin to appear. Finally more shoes from eBay show up. Who knew you could be fashionable and so cheap?
Then I tried reversing the sort, looking for the highest priced numbers. As you might expect, boots topped the list with two on eBay, starting at $1,599 for a Chanel black boot with silver heel. Neiman Marcus came in third with an Italian Dahlia black platform priced at $1,595 and a similar Bonnie brand for $1,390. Whew! Glad I live on the SoCal coast where the snow seldom visits.
Like my own black boots?
Saying Goodbye to 2007, But with Class!
We’ve seen some new styles in shoes this year relating to high heels, platforms, stilettos, boots, flats; from the most stylish to the most monsterous — you name it, we’ve seen it. And what’s amazing is there are different types of consumers who have put their money up for the many styles of shoes we’ve seen come and go quietly. But the question is, will these new designs we’ve seen come in to the light of fashion be around in 2008? And how will we embrace even newer shoes that step onto the frontier of the fashion seen in the new year? With every change fashion trends undergo, shoes seems to undergo the same change because designers of shoes are fighting to keep up and not lose steem. Nevertheless, you can be sure there’s going to be something new for everyone.
With that said, I say we need to end 2007 with a bang in celebrating the life of high heels which many of us have purchased this year. I know I’ve purchased at least 25 pairs of high heels. So, ladies, let’s step out and strut our stuff as we walk out of 2007 and into 2008 with style. Whether it’s a 2 inch heel or an 8 inch ballet shoe…you know the ones. Whether it’s a pair of stilettos, platform hills, or regular pair of pumps…wear them and wear them well, and with pride, and remember to say, as you prance around in your shoes, “2007 was good to me.”
I write this because I’ve seen some of the strangest styles in heels and wedges. And it’s amazing that these strange shoes have found homes. Therefore, it’s like I said once before, if designers make them, consumers will buy them.
How will you dress your feet in 2008?
domo arigato mr. roboto!
I may be a little late on this one but check out these heels!

These are Balenciaga cage stilettos. Others call them lego or robot stilettos. Either way, they’re sick! You can already tell these are hard to walk in. A model tried them out on the runway and proved that they are not for everyday wear. Though these heels aren’t really my style, I would love to own a pair and showcase them in my china cabinet.
