50-Foot Queenie
March 25th, 2005 by meg van huygenI’m 5′11″ and a half and I have to go through a lot of trouble to find shoes without heels. My tall girlfriends have the same problem; heels are off-limits because you don’t want to look like a drag queen, so we’re relegated to like ballet flats and Chuck Taylors. I have three pairs of shoes, total.
But I was at Target on Saturday, looking for shoes and everything had heels, of course, so I decided to just cut to the chase and try on some four-inch cork platform-type wedges. It was exhilarating. I could look down on the top of my boyfriend’s head. I was taller than all the shoe racks. And they made my legs look even longer! I dunno why I never tried this before.
So now I can’t stop thinking about heels. They’re still scary and forbidden, but now all the more tantalizing. I keep daydreaming about going back to Target and buying like four pairs and being 6′3″ all the time. Work, weekends, nightlife. Terrorizing the city. Picking apples. Drag queens have some distinct advantages, man.

Hello to the Meg!
The Manolo he recommends casting the caution to the winds and wearing the high heels. The truly super fantastic girl she does not worry too much about the erroneous considerations of other people.
Of the course, he has spoken to this very matter before.
