Manolo What?

I was flitting about the ‘net and found an interesting new blog called The Seamy Side . Of course, I just had to have a look and found this colorful entry. I think it’s either a piece of fabric art, or possibly a tote bag.

We all know what Manolos are! However, at flickr the creator/photographer, Arlee Barr, notes that it’s “A Shoe of the Special/Manolo series/1, Originally uploaded by arlee. For the discerning customer. A lovely bucket-tote style bag that will carry your desirables *and* the toy poodle. $100.00 CDN including shipping.”

Better yet, she also says,

Textile art turns me on–i get excited about fabrics, threads, beading, trims, you name it. I’ve been known to drool on textile art books and walk funny in fabric stores because it FEELS SO GOOD…..

Payless runner-ups

Two other Payless heels I was consindering over the weekend were also really nice. If I’d been home, I probably would’ve purchased them–they were only $15 each!–but I was traveling and needed an “emergency” pair of shoes for a nice restaurant, so I had to limit myself to one pair.

These 3″ heels were great because they have the elastic back (no micro-buckles to deal with!). But they were a little gothy-looking for dinner, I thought. They’d probably be a lot better for clubbing.

These were adorable in my hand, but for some reason just didn’t look quite right on my feet. They gave off this “Mary Janes” sort of vibe, and they were very cute, but wouldn’t have worked for a formal dinner. (Maybe with a little plaid skirt and a bookbag, though…)

Payless… but get more

I recently bought a pair of black Bow Sandals from Payless, and so far they’re great.

These 1 1/2″ heels aren’t brand name or anything, but they’re light, dainty, and fit well–all for just $13. Can’t beat that. :)

Shh! It’s a secret …

A new blog, PostSecret, put up this interesting little tidbit yesterday. Ostensibly someone sent in a postcard with a tantalizing partial shot of a bare foot in a very strappy, very high heel (dark red painted toenails, if it matters). The accompanying aqua text reads: i show pictures of my feet to a man online so he’ll buy me stuff. Maybe if we encourage her, she’ll send in more shots.

Secret Shoes

Sergio Rossi

If you’re into the metallic trend that seems to be everywhere this season, you should definitely check out Sergio Rossi. He has great metallic heels like these bronze leather sandals:

A sampling of my favorites from River Island. This is a popular store in the UK and Ireland, and all of these shoes sell for between $100-150.

Some funky, button-embellished stilettos from Bruno Frisoni:

More from Stella

I know we have covered Stella McCartney in the past, but I’d just like to mention (for the animal lovers among us) that she uses only non-animal materials to make her shoes.
