High Heels Are Bad For You

Every other month brings another “study” telling us that high heels are bad for us. Since when is this news? If you don’t know that prolonged use of high heels are bad for your feet then you probably shouldn’t own any.

I do understand the worry especially with the younger generation. Look into most high schools and even junior high and you will see many of these teens already wearing heels. I’ve caught child beauty shows on the tv a few times and even they are wearing them sad to say.

Long term wear of high heels even heels that aren’t 3″ or higher can and will cause shortening of your tendons. This means that you can’t lower your heel and will be forced to walk on your tip toes. I’ve even heard of some women who have to wear shower shoes with heels because of this problem.

However I think that by now most women should know that if your going to wear heels that there comes some drawbacks such as twisted or broken ankles, heel problems, bunions and other unsightly things and of course you can’t run very fast if you can run at all.

oh good lord - what women are seeing the shortening of tendons ? Get real ! Again as stated on another post out here - been wearing heels of 3 inches and higher - mostly 4 for every day wear - for over 30 years and I have no feet or leg problems - I have a severe back problem but that was at birth and the heels actually make my back feel better

High heels were considered sexy and grownup when I was an up and coming teenager.

I was almost thirteen years old before I was able to wear my first pair of heels. They were imported directly from my sisters hand-me-down closet.
I was only allowed to wear heels to church. Not that I minded one bit. I could not walk two steps in them anywhere else. At least at church, I could sit down and not be noticed.

I finally mastered the art of walking in high heels when I began to date. Men loved the tall alluring look. That helped me a lot because I was only 5′1 tall.

Now, I have digressed back to only being able to walk two steps in the heels. Age and beauty are not mixing here!

Today, I see five and six year old girls wearing high heels, and walking in them like a professional. I wonder how this will effect them whenever they become an old timer like me. Will thier backs ache? Will they have icky green veins running up thier long, slender legs?

I have finally come to this conclusion; high heels are for the young and the hookers.

I don’t fit in either category. So, I guess you can understand why I wear a sensible Nine West and leave the stillettos alone.

Got something to say?
