High Heel Plastic Surgery on the Rise

I am and always have been a fan of the high heel shoe, what I am not a fan of is killing myself to please others who look at my feet. It is a disturbing trend that is on the rise unfortunately and that is plastic surgery for your feet so that you can fit into certain types of high heels shoes such as the extremely pointed and in my opinion ugly as hell high heel shoes.

A number of celebrities including Oprah Winfrey and Katie Couric has had this very dangerous and expensive surgery done and like everything else when the stars do it, regular gals have to jump on it as well. However with the risks of this surgery they might not be able to walk much less jump at anything.

The problems with this surgery is that unlike breast implants and other cosmetic surgeries you walk on this body part, you sometimes run on it and after the surgery even if it goes well, women can have pain and problems when their feet no longer absort the shock and impact of running or jogging.

In one horrific story a woman who went in to remove some bunions ended up with a chipped big toe and feet that were much worse off than when she went in. Even after multiple surgeries to fix the problem she nor the doctors are sure she will have full use of her feet again. The bones hurt just to walk and she is always concerned that the bones in her toes have seperated.

At the end of the day I think this type of surgery should be a necessary thing such as you have to get it for your health and not your looks. It saddens me when people ruin their lives for vanity. Especially the very young ones. If a 16 year old talks her parents into letting her do this and it goes badly, she has a long life of pain and unfunctioning feet just because she wanted feet like the celebrities in the magazines.

Things like this disturb me on end, where you want to grab the person and drag them to safety. I would think common sense would tell you that this is not right but who the heck knows. There is a website where I once found a message from a guy wanting advice on where his 19 year old girlfriend can go to get a few of her toes removed so that she can wear his favorite pointed heels. Like I said, disturbing.
