Why Do We Love High Heels So Much?
To say that High heels will always be a staple in most women’s closets is probably an understatement if ever there was one. But what is it about these shoes that women are so intrigued by? There are a few reasons that could help explain why women and high heel shoes are a fit. Here are a couple…see if you agree.
1. High Heels Make you Taller.
And who doesn’t love the feeling of instant height to make you feel more confident and strong? Even women who are not short to begin with seem to enjoy the extra height heels give us.
2. High Heels are Slimming.
Heels add height and make the body seem longer and less bulky. Women don’t have to worry if a pair of new heels makes them look “fat”, as we tend to obsess about when we buy a new pair of jeans, in contrast.
3. High Heels Are Not Always Expensive.
A New Pair of High Heels Doesn’t Have To Cost a Lot! Of course we can spend extreme money on some heels, but generally speaking, there are many many options in high heel shoes for women. And even if they are not a fancy top designer brand, new high heels most always look great!
4. High Heels Add Instant OOMPH!
Any outfit, be it jeans and a t-shirt, or a skirt, will be instantly changed by the addition of high heels. And usually it is a change that packs a punch!
5. Heels Make Us Feel Sexy! (maybe he best reason for loving our high heels)
Just putting on a pair of sexy high heels can make you feel sexier, but they also can make you look sexier. High heels change our body stance, making our calf muscles more pronounced, and forcing our butts and chests out — it’s nearly as if high heels force us into better posture … and good posture is always sexy.

It’s just about that time of the year again when thoughts turn to proms at high schools everywhere. What are some of the possible favorites that will make it to dance floors this prom season? Here are a few heels that are looking good in the prom picks so far:

Many Celebrities Wearing Green On Feet
There are some environmentally-concerned and animal right activist actors in Hollywood such as Pamela Anderson, Denise Richards, Nicole Portman and Alicia Silverstone.
And to keep their green ways going down to their feet, there are shoe designers that have come up with green solutions in shoe designer wear.
Probably the most notable in this area are Mink Shoes, which offers a full line of designer heels, wedges and platform pumps from $300-
$500. This style shown here is called the Aramadillo. The Armadillo is a steal colored faux leather T-strap with a titanium spike heel. Each shoe is extremely unique and is offered in a very limited production. This shoe has to be special ordered, so I guess when you order it that is when you get the price. But I think it’s safe to say it won’t be cheap!
All MINK shoes are custom designed and hand crafted from non-animal products. Natural or scientifically engineered alternatives such as cork, denim, linen, faux fur, and other animal friendly substitutes are used in making their shoes. Leather, suede, pelts, and skins are never used. MINK Shoes adheres to a strict policy of animal preservation, protection, and safeguarding in its designs. Each shoe is extremely unique and is offered in a very limited production.

Tips For Smart Heel Wearing
Love to wear high heels but hate the achy feet? Here are some tips from The American Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Society on smart heel wearing:
- Wear a shorter heel. A 2-inch heel causes less problems than a 4-inch heel. A shorter heel will give an elongated appearance if it is a thin stiletto type rather than a thick or chunky heel.
- Try to save the use of your high-heeled shoes for functions where you will not be on your feet for extended periods of time; treat them as a limited-privilege accessory.
- Take your designer shoes to a pedorthist to have them custom fit to your feet. They may be able to stretch the toe box to better accommodate your feet.
- Try wearing a larger size than usual and insert heel cups into the backs for a better or more comfortable fit.
- Wear open toe shoes instead of a similarly-styled shoe that causes discomfort in your toes. Partially open toe shoes have become more acceptable in many work environments, allowing you to further customize your shoes to your feet.
- Remember that however appealing those high-heel, high-fashion shoes are, your feet need to carry you around for a lifetime. Treat them kindly!

Black Leather Grommet Ankle-Tie Heels
Affording designer shoes is only a dream for me. But, there are beautiful styles available and I came across a pair by Jimmy Choo that spoke to me.
Jimmy Choo’s black leather grommet ankle-tie heels impressed me, with what reminds me of a vintage style, and I love the ankle ties. Any shoe that draws focus to the ankles gives a more feminine and sexy appeal.
The shoe comes in soft black with a round open toe and large gold metal grommets on the vamp and back. The stiletto heel measures 2 1/2 inches. The shoe isn’t only beautiful and versatile, but looks to be comfortable.
The retail value is $550, but this shoe can be purchased at Bluefly for $440. I doubt I’ll be saving to buy these because my budget and my lifestyle wouldn’t afford it, but these would be at the top of my list.

What The Stars Wear
Many Hollywood Celebrities seem to love wearing Christian Louboutin shoes on their feet. And why not? If you can afford them, the collection is outstanding, I think .
Here are a favorite I saw online, and would so love to own a pair! Alas, I will have to be content and watch to see which feet they turn up on in Hollywood. They are available for $725.00 at Saks. They have a 4inch heel and leather lining with a padded insole and are made in Italy. They come in red or black…my personal favorite is the red, but I’ll take black! They look comfotable for a high heel shoe, and would work well for work or dressing up for a night out on the town!

Grease High-Heel Platform Sandal
The Grease High-Heel Platform Sandal by Gucci sells for $595.00 at Neiman Marcus online.
The shoe is made in Italy and of a rich orange suede with GG detail. The platform and heel are made of a dark cork and gives the shoe a stylist twist.
The GG signature is on the platform and also offers a unique feature.
I loved platform shoes back in the 70’s. This Gucci platform is a wonderful reminder of the past, but has a beautiful style for today.

Adjustable High Heels
Have you heard of Camileon Shoes? They are actually high heels shoes with a twist….you can adjust your heels! Sounds like a great idea to me. It is supposed to be easy to switch from the low heel to the high heel and vice versa. You do not even have to take the shoe off. Locking mechanisms keep the heels locked safely in place whether you are using the high heel or low heel version.
These adjustable heels run between $200-$300 or so price range. They are made with Italian Leather, and as such should wear well and long.
Check out The Camileon website to learn more about the adjustable high heel shoes, and browse the styles they offer. The style shown here is called “Mimi”, and is priced at $245 right now on the website. Too high for my budget, but still an interesting idea!
