Purple Shoes Make a Fall Statement

Is everything coming up purple this Fall? Luckily, we will be seeing some warmer shades of the vibrant outspoken purple this season. I mean, purple can be cool, but it just isn’t one of my all time favorites when it comes to shoe fashion.
But with that said, I did find a sexy high heel by Jessica Simpson that is beautiful in all its’ purple glory, and feminine to boot with a slinky sassy bow sitting coyly on top. The fabulous heel is tapered and sleek …all 4 inches of it. And the peep toe is subtle yet extremely in fashion for this Fall. A pair of Peep toes heels should probably be in everyone’s closet this Fall in some form or another if being trendy is your cup of tea!
Piperlime has the Jessica Simpson Donora available for $89.00. You may want to check these out.
70 Years of Wishing On Ruby Slippers

The truly wonderful Wizard of Oz will turn 70 next year. And celebrations are already under way. Namely, Warner Brothers and Swarovski, the crystal company, have teamed up to celebrate the auspicious 70th anniversary of Dorothy and her ruby red slippers, and to benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, with an auction planned in the fall of 2009.
A group of 20 designers are now recreating Dorothy’s glittering ruby slipperss to commemorate the 70th anniversary of “The Wizard of Oz” next year. But already the beautiful shoe designs are being introduced with appearances at Saks Fifth Avenue and in Bryant Park in New York during the September fashion shows, at Art Basel Miami Beach in December and elsewhere next year.
One of the designers that is participating in the auction is the infamous Betsey Johnson. She describes her ruby slipper creation as a shoe that has a heel “as high as I could go, as sparkly as I could go and as fun and full of polka dots and a tulle bow as I could make them.”
Two pairs of each shoe, by designers like Oscar de la Renta, Diane Von Furstenberg and Manolo Blahnik, will be produced for the auction.

Loving Me Some Fall Shoe Styles!

I have said it before and I’ll say it again…I love Fall and the shoes that come with it! Fall 2008 is bringing some especially yummy high heel styles, and one of my personal favorites so far is the Sergio Rossi Angelica Giraffe Print Pump. Is it not great? These beautiful heels feature a 3.5 inch heel straight from Italy. You have to love this shoe, even if you don’t buy it or wear it (I know animal prints are not going to work for everyone, but still it is so fun to just look at this high heel) you can’t deny how seriously devilish this shoe looks!
But even if you don’t find these animal print heels sexy and a must have for your closet, you may want to think twice–the safari print is a hot Fall trend this year.
What five shoe styles should everyone have in her closet?

Taryn Rose, if case you are not familiar with her, is the founder of Taryn Rose International, a luxury line of shoes ( did I mention Taryn is also an orthopedic surgeon??) Taryn recently did an interview with shoes.com, giving her valuable tips and trends for shoes this fall.
Here is some of what Taryn had to say:
Her thoughts on Fall Trends–
There’s a dominatrix look that is happening this fall as well as very streamlined covered up booties. I love shoe booties with dark tights for fall since I don’t need to worry about my calves looking fat. So why don’t I just wear pants? Well then I need to worry about my butt looking fat. Besides I love to wear a dress.
Taryn’s picks for the five shoe styles every woman should have–
A simple black pump, a ballerina flat (I love it in metallic or black patent), a low wedge with an ankle strap for walking, a stiletto for special occasions, a high heel Mary Jane. If you don’t work in a conservative field then you can switch the pump for something that is appropriate for your lifestyle. I have 175 pairs of shoes so I’m probably not the right person to ask about five pairs of shoes.
What current shoe trends will likely carry over to next season?
The Mary Jane is great whether its trendy or not since it gives extra support. I also like gladiator sandals which are really hot this summer but I think it still has legs for next season. Gladiators for me is a great way to wear flats with an attitude. I’ve always loved peep toes and started designing peep toes long before they were trendy. The shoe bootie is also good to wear into Fall.
And some accessorizing tips from Taryn:
I don’t like the full matchy matchy look since it looks dated. What is fresher is to use one accessory as a pop or a standout element. Right now I like a bright shoe with a neutral bag or vice versa. Playing with textures and shine is another way to wear a lot of the same color without looking like an Easter parade. For example I wore a green matte satin Oscar De La Renta cocktail dress with a green and gold beaded Fendi bag and simple soft gold shoes. Because I am short I tend to like to wear soft gold or nude shoes to elongate my legs.
You can shop for Taryn Rose footwear at boutiques around the world, as well as fine department stores such as Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom among others, and be sure of course to check out Taryn’s Collection online
