The Highest High Heels

Louis Vuitton 7 inch heels black goldThe former champion of the high heel was a black 16cm heel by Christian Louboutin, tall and stately and beautiful. Sadly, it’s not the peak of the tall heels anymore. Dethroned by a towering 17cm (7 inch)  platform stiletto (pictured). This gold and black high heel is more an artistic statement than a designer shoe, and it has fashionistas going nuts!

This is great for the petite girls. A 7-inch high heel can turn a 5′4″ lady into a 5′11″ candidate for the catwalk. Any woman can be tall. Of course, I’m 5′9″ barefoot, so this pair of heels will make me a solid 6′4″ amazon princess. Fine if I’m going out with a basketball player, but certainly not the best choice if I’m going out to dinner with my 5′10″ husband.

The popularity of these shoes, that won’t even be available until next month, is off the charts. There are waiting lists and people cannot get enough of the super-high heel.

True fashionistas are throwing caution to the wind and buying heels well into the 14-17cm range, towering on platforms and balancing like tightrope walkers. If you opt for a fasionable smaller-heeled alternative they’re known as a “selling” heel. A safer, lower version of the same heel that rocked the catwalk. A “selling” heel can be as low as 11cm. Still high, but not high enough for the fasion trendsetters.

Are you fashionista enough for 7″ of sexy, sultry, Louis Vuitton fashion? Or will you draw the line at 11cm “selling” heels that might be a little easier to walk in for those of you that actually need to walk places quickly. I’d hate to see someone rushing for a bus or a train in these heels.

Staying Comfortable in High Heel Shoes

High heel shoes make our legs look longer and just help our general appearance. However, it can be a challenge at times to stay comfortable in high heel shoes. One of the first things to consider for comfort when wearing high heel shoes is to purchase a pair that fits. Don’t buy the shoes if they don’t fit well and feel comfortable when you walk around in the store.

Practice walking in your high heel shoes so that you can get a feel for them. This will make it easier to walk and not be self-conscious. You’ll find that you have fewer accidental trips this way as well.

Remove your high heel shoes when you do not have to wear them. For example, put on a pair of flat slip-ons to drive places and then switch to your high heel shoes when you arrive at your destination. If you are wearing high heel shoes at work, slip them off under your desk. You can keep a pair of flat slip on shoes to wear while you’re feet are hidden in your cubicle.

Wear high heel shoes that are reasonably comfortable to start with. Remove your high heels when your feet won’t be exposed. Wear flat slip on shoes whenever possible to give your feet a break and a rest.

Polka-Dot Heels for Summer 2007

Bright, happy patterns are the thing this spring — but one that pattern seems especially prevalent is the polka-dot. I’ve noticed polka-dots popping up all over the place lately, especially on bikinis, cover-ups and sundresses.

So are there heels coming out to match?

Yes! For instance, Delia’s (one of my favorite stores of all time!) is offering the Dottie Sandal ($32), a sling-back with a 1″ platform and a 5″ heel.

They also have the Maria Wedge ($38), which has a 3.5″ heel and also comes in pink and black (both with polka-dots).

And if you like the idea of dots (but not the dots themselves), how about the Buffalo Wedge ($38), which has a 1″ platform and a 3″ wedge. (The one on the left has stars; the one on the right has strawberries.)

Finally, there’s the spunky little Volatile Bryana Wedge ($44), a 3″ wedge with pineapples! (I love this one!)

Evolution

You’ve probably seen those charts of the evolution of man, starting with a blob of protoplasm through lizards (still found in lounges), birds, four-footed beasts, monkeys and finally Australopithocampus, or contemporary man, right? Along the way, we lose and gain appendages like tails and appendixes, prehensile thumbs and furry coats and occasionally a sport like an albino turns up. I was just thinking of the evolution of the little black pump, and found examples here and there to arrange in the order of PUMP EVOLUTION:

Are we making progress, or what?!

Pairing Shoes with Chic Style

To fashion insiders, Spring marks the time of year where knee high boots are stashed and replaced with strappy high heeled sandals. For the more comfort conscious, ballet flats can be slipped on (See these by Dries Van Noten #6686)

Flip flops have not been dismissed this season. Check out these leather flip flop wonders from Boden

The dress shorts of the season may be merged with my favorite any day heel.

To get in the spirit of summer, corduroy pants should be stashed away. In the realm of understated style, a pair of ankle strappy heels (take a peek) may punctuate any kind of dress pants.

This year, the big purse rules and the clutch is passé.

When it comes to warm-seasoned fashion, I prefer to play the odds. Marrying a pair of jeans to silk blazer, a tight-tee shirt and a pair of high heels by Claudia Ciuti, is the way I like to match make my attire.

Miu Miu Madness: Part 4

Moving into super-high heel territory, now… Here’s a marvellous little wedge heel, and a sexy purple super-high shoe that just makes my palms itch to go out and spend some money!! And the black: that’s a pure, classic heel.

MIAmour

Mia Twinkle Mia Eryn Mia Honey

Alright, I’m loving the way the color fades down the heel in both the pink and the green pair of Mia heels above. And, I think the brown boots with the low heel would be great for everyday boots. Mia heels run around $55 and boots around $90. Happy shoe shopping!
